Geocache Description:

The Seven Summits Trail passes within striking distance of 7 peaks of the Rossland Range along a 30.4 km long trail. This cache series takes you up all 7 peaks - no passing them by on the trail!

There are several access points to the Seven Summits Trail. It is most commonly walked North to South, since it is overall downhill in that direction. The north trailhead is at Strawberry Pass on highway 3B; the south trailhead is at "KM 12" (1st summit) on the Old Rossland-Cascade Rd. The trail can also be accessed by the Plewman trail, which joins the Seven Summits trail near the junction with the trail up to Old Glory.

Detailed information about the Seven Summits trail and side trips to the peaks can be found here: KCTS Website. Thank you to the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society, who maintains this and other trails in such fantastic condition!!

Mt. Kirkup can be accessed from N49 07.334 W117 51.942 on the Seven Summits trail. From there, it is just over 1 km with an elevation gain of 100m to the summit. There is no trail, but the slopes are fairly open.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good spot for the cache that would also be winter accessible up here - I wouldn't be able to reach it!!

Please watch out for mountain bikers on the trail, and be bear aware!
