Geocache Description:

Glen Falloch

Glen Falloch is a wonderful little glen at the top of Loch Lomond. Back in the 1970s there was an episode of Weir's Way where Tom Weir wandered around the glen and really got a feel for the place.

This is a nice easy cache placed at the start of Glen Falloch - in the hope that it might be found as a starting point for a caching trip round the glen. In the area you might wish to visit the places Tom Weir talked about in his programme:

Clach na Briton - Where the Kingdoms Met by coolCal

- Clach na Briton is an historic rock which was the boundary of the three kingdoms of ancient Scotland. It stands high on the hillside above Glen Falloch and makes for an excellent cache location.

Glen Falloch Cache by Shunter

- With this cache Shunter takes you on a walk deeper into the glen with the chance to see the ancient forestry that Tom mentions in his programme.

Falloch Crossing by Pooter

- a cheeky little cache in a lovely setting!

If you're coming from the South then best do Pooter's cache first, then the Coolcalls, then Shunters, and finally this one. The reason that I say to do this one first is because although you pass it on the way to Shunter's cache, you actually need to cross a burn to get it so best leave the wet feet until you're on your way back to the parking!

If you enjoy doing this Weir's Way cache then if you haven't already done so, please find the time to do the other ones in the series.

And if you want to pay homage to the great man, whynot visit Glasgow to do a Dear Green Place Cache placed by jester2005 that is specifically about where Tom grew up.

Good luck in your caching exploits!
