Geocache Description:

A small easy cache at a lovely picnic site very popular with birdwatchers.

The picnic area is owned by the Enviroment agency and managed by Wyre Coast and countryside Services.Offering excellent views of the Lake District and Morecambe bay. The area is very popular with birdwatchers and walkers. Its position at the edge of the marsh overlooking Morecambe Bay affords fine views of scenery and wildlife.Morecambe Bay ,together with the Lune Estuary,supports one of the biggest trans-migrant and overwintering populations of wading birds in Britain. Its importanceis recognised in that it has been designated a 'Ramsar' wetlands site of International Importance and also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) There are a range of habitats which are being developed to encourage a variety of wildlife. A network of footpaths links the area with Pilling village and the long distance Lancashire Coastal Way.
