We thought the Newington side of the bridge could use another good cache. You will understand what's so colorful when you find it! :-)
Parking on the Newington side is past the road to the old bridge on the right.
This cache is accessible via foot at low-tide or boat or wading at high-tide. A steep path down to the shoreline is located at the end of the parking area with a rope to help you down. On a rainy day this slope can be quite slippery so take care! There are other ways down to the shore as well but we did not try them so as always: take appropriate precautions to ensure your safety.
Enjoy the cache!
UPDATE: to quote mscrep (because we couldn't have said it better ourselves):
"Not a great cache for kids. Poison ivy, poison sumac, pricker bushes, broken glass, rusty metal, and other stuff abound. Come prepared!"
More than half the Portsmouth Pirates are actually kids (and the rest believe they still are), but precautions were taken by all before descending down to the tidal flats. Long pants and shirts, bug spray, good socks and shoes. This is definitely not a cache for flip-flops and cutoffs.
