Geocache Description:

Tough hike, possible water crossing, views, ammo can

Hounds without good hiking boots need not apply. Much of the journey to this one is harey terrain without marked trails.

When placing this cache I parked at the end of Damselfly. From this point to the cache is 2.6 miles. Following the dirt trails from here will eventually connect you into the Steamboat Ditch/Tom Cooke trail system. At some point you will need to cross the ditch, if you get lucky the water will be turned off. If not I have listed a waypoint that the water is only knee deep and runs slow.(fun :-))

After crossing the ditch you should find some fairly well defined game trails to follow. As you look up the mountain you will see a very large white tree (burned from the fires a couple years ago) this is a good target for you to keep hiking towards. I've been up this way a few times and each time I have run into deer. Hopefully you will too.

Arriving at the white tree you will see that it is pitch black on the other side. From this point you have about a quarter mile to your goal. As you reach the top of the ridge, in front of you, you will be able to see down into Hunters Creek which is a great trail and highly recommended. To the left you will see down town Reno and to the right you will see the cache area.
