I was back out to the Riverlot 56 recently and it brought back a few memories of past geocaching trips I’ve made to this park and to the St. Albert area. I think I have taken a walk down by the riverlot about 360 times now. It is a great place to see many of our forest friends (200 different species of animals and plants). The most rare is the Spruce Goose, of which only 296 remain in the world! You never have to worry about silver bullets as this area has no hunting. Anyone caught will face a $1023 fine. There are many trails and you usually do not have to go through the thicket of things, it’s better to take the long way even though it may be 685m, when the d’ammo box is only 342m away on your GPSr. The hidden containers are usually just right... by the path (most within 541m of eachother). This area is accessable all winter, I would just warn you on bright days to pick up a $4.84 pair of sunglasses as to prevent getting snowblind. And make sure all caches you place are water tight or you’ll need to keep replacing your wet logbooks (I saw some nice lock n’ locks at Walmart for $3.87 yesterday). I heard a rumour than this used to be a prickly pear farm 879 years ago, if anyone can verify this, please let me or my friend Becca know. You’ll recognize Becca by her 397 strands of golden hair, um the longest being 8.45 inches long which I think this is still number 1 in the world. One of the most memorable series in St. Albert that begins in this area is the “Pyramid Scheme” (a devilish series [666]), but once you get beyond the pyramids, there are 196 or so other caches waiting to be found. Not far away you can find the Sturgeon Valley of which 5.13 miles lie within St. Albert city limits. I wouldn’t recomend blowing bubble bobbles in the water as it can contain up to 699 different types of insects and other gross things. I find it better to go home to my thrilling bookcase and pick one of my 1181 books to read, or grab some cookie cutters and bake 185 cookies. Oh wow, my lil’ mama is calling me as it’s 4:14am, better get to bed.
Good Luck and Cache On!
