Geocache Description:

Located in the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Area, on the grounds of the Lewis and Clark State Park, on level terrain. Parking is available not far from the cache.

On their journey West, Lewis and Clark came across this lake near the Missouri River on July 4, 1804. Clark described it as having "great quantities of fish and Gees & Goslings." Waterfowl such as geese, great blue herons, snowy egrets, and ducks can still be seen at the lake, especially in the spring. In 2004 an interpretive area detailing the Corps of Discovery's visit to this area was erected to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the expedition. This site is a well-kept secret and not many people realize it is here. Follow the "recreated" Muddy Mo to this cache site. Be aware that the park grounds are open from 7am - 10pm, but the gate to this particular area closes at 4:30 pm. It is not accessible by vehicle after 4:30 pm, but you can walk to the cache (approximately 1/4 mi.) on a level gravel road.

The cache container is a concealed pill bottle with a log only. Bring your own pencil.

The cache is placed with the permission of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks and we thank them for their assistance in placing the cache.
