Geocache Description:

This cache will take you to the Fish Hatchery which is a beautiful place to visit for both tourists and locals alike. For Canadian Cachers please bring any souvenir of Canada to trade - the less tacky the better and feel free to be creative. For the rest of the world please trade something unique to your country to trade if possible. When you log your visit at www.geocaching.com, please describe the things you like about Canada or think are unique or quirky as big or as small as they may be.

This cache was placed on Canada Day (July 1st, 2009) in honour of the Famous Canadian Author & Artist - Douglas Coupland.

We want to try and make this a quality Cache site that brings Canadian Cacher's and Cacher's from abroad together. By quality cache site, we mean that the people trading have put some time, thought and creativity into the items they choose to trade. As relatively new Cachers, while we enjoy the hunt, it can be very disappointing to open a new cache and find it riddled with broken and soiled McHappy toys. When you log your visit at www.geocaching.com, please describe the things you like about Canada or think are unique or quirky as big or as small as they may be.

If you're looking for a fresh, fun and unique take on Canada, we highly recommend reading "Souvenir of Canada" and "Souvenir of Canada II" of course by Douglas Coupland. For anyone visiting Vancouver, we also highly recommend "City of Glass" also by Douglas Coupland which will give you fun insights into Vancouver and some of its unique spots.

For more information about Douglas Coupland you can visit his official web site at:
www.coupland.com

For the First to Find, we are leaving:
First To Find Pin & Copy of "Souvenir of Canada" by Douglas Coupland

Cache starting contents include:
Bruce the Canadian moose Travel Bug, Canada Geocoin (our first release), Canada's first Official Geocache 7th Anniversary Geocoin, some Canadian themed trade items. Cool Maps from Tomahawk Restaurant which is a great place to fuel up while caching. The Tomahawk restaurant also has a magnetic micro-cache....so you can kill two birds with one stone.
