Dog Fight Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

thekennelat79: Somewhat alarmed by the most recent log from Seeking Salters, I visited GZ this morning to check things out.

The whole area has been changed since my last maintenance visit, earlier this year.
Earth banks have been pushed up alongside the cache, and it would appear that the landowner has acquired a job lot of barbed wire.
There are new barbed wire fences everywhere!

It's no longer a safe place for people to seek a cache and I will not encourage people to visit there.

Thanks to all those who have visited over the years, and appreciated the puzzle and cache.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not located at the above co-ordinates, but can be found a short distance away.

The cache is placed near to the site of what used to be RAF Funtington.
This airfield was known as an “Advanced Landing Ground” and was used only from Sept.1943 to Dec.1944 in support of D-Day.

Some of the old white huts which formed part of the airfield can still be seen in service around the area.
Much of the site has now been returned to farmland, but the centre of the airfield is still in everyday use as a Radar test range.
The public road which runs past the site is almost on the line of the old main runway. (visit link)

The cache, which is my usual size of ammo box, can be found at
N 50 AB.CDE W 000 FG.HJK where

AB = MH
C = WS
DE = KN minus VN
F = OQ
G = XV
HJK = BH + HA + Z5

A correct solution of the puzzle will give a checksum (total of all 15 digits) of 53

On the way to the cache, you may come across a "Private" sign. Please note that this applies only to vehicles and you have a pedestrian right of way along this path.

There is some barbed wire near the cache, but a little lateral thinking will result in an approach route which does not require any fences to be climbed.
