WELCOME TO
THE
ROSE TOR CACHE
This cache can be done either en
route to the Desert Rose area - where you will find 3 other caches
in the vicinity [Q-Fossil, Q-D-Rose, and Desert Rose caches] - or
on your way back from the area. This will all depend on which route
you choose to travel. We found this place on our way back to the
Umm Bab road after visiting the area. We hope that you enjoy doing
this cache as much as we enjoyed placing it. jimbo enjoyed giving
the Pajero a work out like it had never had before!
Apart from a 360º panoramic view of
the area, there are some strangely coloured and shaped rocks that
can be found close to the cache location. To the north there is a
great view over the sabkha and a number of camel enclosures can be
seen. Generally the camel herders are a friendly bunch and will
welcome visitors to look at their charges and have a general
chinwag. Don't be surprised if you are offered a drink of fresh
camel milk while you are there!
The general area is
extremely desolate and is not a place to be tackled without
adequate preparation. It is recommended that a 4x4 vehicle be used
and preferably do not drive alone in the desert. The normal
precautions of carrying enough water, etc obviously goes without
saying.
