A small Cache placed at the top of a mountain. A good well kept trail will take you. A 1976 Bicentenial 2 dollar biill awaits the FTF. You will need to bring your own pen. When taking the trail keep to the left at the fork about 2-3 hundred yards in.
This cache is placed at the Unal summit. There is also a summit log which is not the cache. They are about 50-60 feet apart. A very pretty spot with views of the Sierra Mountains as well as the Valley. On a clear day you can also see the coastal range of mountains. To get to the cache take the Unal trail. There is plenty of parking across the street from the Ranger Station located at Greenhorn Summit. The Trail head is well marked just south of the station. The trail is a three mile loop which is why we have given it a 4 rating on terrain. The first part of the trail has a gentle slope for 2 miles to the top. One mile down on the way back.We have been hiking the southern Sierra Montains for a while now and we believe this is one of the prettiest trails, as well as maintained. Be sure to take a couple of bottles of water and remember to carry out your empties. There is a very good place to eat a couple of miles to the east called the Green Horn Grill. Yum Yum
