An easy cache at the White Mountain Fire Overlook.
In the summer of 1988 lightning strikes on White Mountain caused a 20,126 acre fire which burned many of the local giants including Snow Peak, Sherman Peak, Edds Mountain, Barnaby Buttes, and many points in between. 20 years later, the scars are still visible, but new life is taking over. As you make your way towards the 30 MPH-near-hairpin closest to the cache, you can see Sherman and Snow Peaks (N to S order). White Mtn. cannot be seen from the highway, but can be accessed from the South Fork Sherman Creek Road. I digress. The cache is a white prescription bottle, donated by my parents. If you can give them a visit and the pharmacy in town and thank them, as they have contributed to all of my cache containers. Have fun, be safe, and leave no trace.
