Geocache Description:

Bertha Creek Campground is the first camping area you'll find after crossing Turnagain Pass going south from Anchorage. It has only twelve campsites, but this restful place deserves consideration, and a cache!

If you are on your way to or from the Kenai Peninsula, Homer, or Seward, and have left town a little late to make your destination at a convenient time, give this spot a try. The campsites are amply sized, wooded, and peaceful. Relax, regenerate, recharge, and get an early start the next morning.

At the end of a brief climb up a small hill, sits a small, secluded bench ... a secret spot to contemplate all things meaningful, or to swat mosquitoes if you are not prepared.

A short trail near-by beckons you to enjoy the soothing sights and sounds of namesake Bertha Creek. "There's gold in them thar hills", and some of it is in the stream. If you are handy with a gold pan, give 'er a go'.

Bring a pen/pencil to sign the log.

Note: This IS Alaska ... You are food. Skin-So-Soft (tm) is a condiment ... Bring REAL insect repellent, and as always, be bear and moose aware.

Congratulations to Cliff Hanger and Christmas Carol for being FTF!
