Lake Ototoa is an little known location on the South Kaipara
Peninsula, known only to a few anglers and the locals.
The lake is popular with fly fishers and has Rainbow trout
averaging just over 1kg but with fish reaching up to 3kg.
It's a great spot and is the largest inland lake on the
Peninsula.
The Lake name is mis-spelling of the original name of Rototoa,
which translates to "Lake of the Warrior". It's a great spot to
come along for a picnic and maybe a Kayak if you have one. The
water is very clear and would be a great spot for a swim during
summer.
Sorry no dogs are allowed due to nesting birds in the area. We
hope you enjoy the spot.
