This simple multi-cache is a short walk in the rural countryside of Grenaby.

The Green Lady

Finding the Cache
After parking near the bridge in Grenaby at (N 54.07.097 W 004.39.297) (note the Victorian Post box), follow the signed footpath in a SE direction to
the first micro - (N54.07.070 W 004.39.070) where the co-ordinates of the second micro can be found. (No need to move any stonework or get wet.)

Continue; go over a stile and check your co-ordinates to avoid any back-tracking through marsh! You may see damselflies, common spotted orchids or even yellow-tip white butterflies.
You will now have the co-ordinates for the final cache which is a snap box originally containing a log book and pen, swaps, a Travel Bug and Geocoins.

From here retrace your steps to the car or, if you prefer a longer, circular walk, you can continue along the path to reach the road, turn right and then at the bottom of the hill turn right again onto the footpath which will take you back to Grenaby and the start.

Some sections of the short and long route described in this cache are prone to being muddy so good footwear is recommended all year-round.

“Chibber Feeayr (Cold Well), Cronkbreck, Grenaby, Malew: It stands by the side of the lane leading to the deserted farmhouse, and was roofed and walled in solid masonry by Preston of Cronkbreck (alias Knockbreck) about sixty years ago (ie 1869). Though it is not reputed to possess medicinal or magical virtues, a Green Lady has been seen in its immediate vicinity within the last few years (early 1900s). She may perhaps have belonged not to the well, or not to the well only, but the river just below… like many other Celtic river-ladies who wear the fairy colour.
