The Location:
This is the location of the original San Jacinto Memorial (Methodist) Hospital. Many are familiar with the newer hospital on Garth Road, but the building that stood here served Baytown for more than 30 years before the new facility opened. Built at a cost of $1.25 million -- generously donated by the Humble Oil and Refining Company -- the 100-bed building first opened it's doors in 1948 as the San Jacinto Memorial Hospital.
HoustonControl was born here about 10 years after that.
The building was utilized as a skilled nursing center and hospice in later years, but was torn down in 2015.
