Geocache Description:

The coordinates listed are for the location of a historic marker near a golf course in Cookeville, TN. There is a small parking lot located across the street and about 500 feet from the sign. Coordinates for the parking are listed.

Isaac Buck and his family moved to the Putnam County area from Pennsylvania in 1820. Later, Isaac and his son Jonathan Buck opened Andrew College, which was more commonly known as “Buck’s College.” Buck’s College, was located at these coordinates and was the first secondary school established in Putnam County. The school closed during the Civil War and never reopened.

The actual cache is a micro located somewhere inside the Cookeville city limits. To find this cache, you must visit this historic marker to find out:

1. The year the land was purchased = ABCD

2. The year the college was opened = EFGH

The cache is located at:

N 36° X.Y

W 085° Z.0R

X = B + H

Y = (A*B*C*G*E*H)+(C*F)+G

Z = (G*C)+B+H

R = C*G

(i.e. if year = 1946 => A=1, B=9 , C=4, D=6)
