Geocache Description:

Some American Indian tribes used smoke signals when they needed to transmit messages long distances and with great speed.

Wikipedia states that various peoples actually used smoke signals from ancient times on. We don’t often use smoke signals anymore, but we still want to transmit messages long distances and with great speed.

Wikipedia noted one instance where smoke signals are still used. Can anyone guess what it is without looking it up?

I found it hard to gauge the difficulty here, so I hope the hint will help if you use it.
