James Doolan Memorial Cache Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Blacklegend: This one slipped through the net. I am no longer living at that address, and will sadly have to archive the hide. A new one will be placed in Qld, where I am now loving.

Geocache Description:

My first multi-cache. A fairly easy 2 stage. The starting point puts you at the Tocumwal RSL, the end point is about 5km out of town. Terrain generally pretty flat with little walking required. You should be able to drive right up to both the start and final locations.

This cache is dedicated to the memory of my Grandfather, James Doolan who served in the Australian Navy in the Second World War on the HMAS Hobart. He passed away late last year on the 23-12-2008, a few days after his 83rd birthday.

I decided to start this cache in front of the Tocumwal RSL branch. At that location there is a memorial to soldiers killed in both WW1 and WW2. In front of this memorial, there is a smaller plaque dedicated to Christina McKechnie.

The clues you will need are:

ABCD = The starting year of her service.
E = The number of letters in her middle name.

The final cache location is at:

S35° 4(B).(D-C-A)(A+C)(B)
E145° 3(E-A).(D-C-A)((2xA)+(2XC))(D)

Initial cache contents include: Log book, pen, laminated information card and some kids toys for swap. Also to start is a TB also dedicated to my grandfather. The cache box if fairly unique, although only made out of pine board, it is a small wooden box made by my grandfather for me, one of two boxes, about 12 months before he passed away. I have placed it in a sealed snaplock bag.

The property the cache is in front of is my house, so if you have time, and want to, pop in to say hi....

Living so close, if the external bag becomes ripped or torn, pleas note in your log, and i will fix it straight away.
