There are some beautiful old trees and some beautiful stretches of river at Smith's Crossing that you . can walk along, there are plans for more walking trails. There is a lot of kayaking on the river, There are platypus in the area, there's great birdwatching, kids love it here, it's a great area. It's beautiful. a cool refreshing place, and it still is - a credit to those who maintain it. Large lawn areas with plenty of shade and some short walks to take in the natural beauty of the bush surrounds and the river views.
The road into and out of the crossing are also a highlight of the drive. They are very peaceful back roads surrounded by great Australian bush and rural settings, with many birds and other wildlife lurking close at hand. There are Toilets, Covered table and chairs, and a wood fired barbeque.
