Traditional small cache at a historical cob cottage.
The cache is on the grounds of a historical cob cottage. Built back in 1878 by John Watters when he arrived in Rotherham it had 50cm thick walls, a thatched roof and it managed to fit the family of nine in it. Lived in until 1961 and left alone until 1993 when the Hurunui District Council began repair work. It was opened again in 1999 for folks to visit, have a look through the windows and preserve it for the future. There is a couple of picnic tables if you need a break or take some time to appreciate the work that the first folks around here did. The cache is a 200ml litre sistema container. It's NOT in / under / beside the building so please don't go hunting around it. It's also not under a tussock or cabbage tree and you don't have to leave the grass to find it.
