How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Requires good basic match skills &/or calculator. Great for the kids to practice their math skills!

Take no concern of the family &/or dog at your first location providing you remain on the correct side of the fence. They are aware of this geocache site & will not interfere.

This cache/hide is a memorial for my late Father. He was a math teacher for many years. Taught middle school, H.S., & college & graduate level math.

The only physical caches are at the start & the end of this multi-cache. The final is on the beautiful new trail system next to the lake. Located just a small distance off the trail. Beware of the thorny baby mesquite trees and cactus.

Terrain rating is based on the "Final Location". All other
waypoint's terrain is a 1 star.

This geocache contains my favorite recipes as well as key chains & a few other items. I would like this to be a NEW way for recipe exchange. :) Bring along your old key chains for exchange as well!

The difficulty rating is based on the fact that you must use math & that there are more than 5 waypoints to the end. The information you need to obtain & the caches at the start and end are quite easy to find.

Congratulations to Auctnr to be the FTF!

All coordinates follow this format:

N 33 A.BCD

W 96 VW.XYZ

A.BCD & VW.XYZ are in the mm.mmm format of Long/Lat

For all math equations, DO NOT ROUND, Drop all digits AFTER the 3rd decimal place.

Find out before you go the answers to the following questions:

How many Super Bowls have the Dallas Cowboys NFL football team won? This is another magic # Q7

What is the FIRST year the Dallas Cowboys played their FIRST game AS the Dallas Cowboys. (Not as the Dallas Steers or Dallas Rangers)

What year did Stalin die, also same year that President Eisenhower took office, also same year the FIRST succesful attempt to get to the summit of Mount Everst by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

Formula to get to Waypoint 2 from Waypoint 1

Use Magic # Q1 & Q2 found at WP 1

A.BCD = Current North mm.mmm - Q1

VW.XYZ = Current West mm.mmm + Q2

(Use given Long/Lat mm.mmm as given on geocaching.com)

Formula to get to WP 3 from WP 2

Find 4 digit number at this location (WP2). This is your magic # Q3

A.BCD = Q3 / 826.028

For the West coordinates The 4 digit number is represented as ZYXX

VW = 52

Formula to get to WP 4 from WP 3

Find a 4 digit number at this location (WP3). This is your magic # Q4

A = Q7

BCD = (Q4 / 6.285) - .396

VW.XY = ((Q4 * 9.46) + 48.34) / 1000

Z=0

Formula to get to WP 5 from WP 4

Find the Established Year for the location (WP4)? This is your magic # Q5

A.BCD = ((Q5 / 2.892) + 5075.858) / 1000

VW.XY = (Q5 / 37) - .184

Z = How many stations have you seen on this multi-cache so far?

Formula to get to WP 6 (Final Cache) from WP 5

Best Parking Location to obtain WP6 (Final Cache)

A = The number of Super Bowls the Dallas Cowboys have won - 1 (as of 2008).

BC = The first year (Season year) that the Dallas Cowboys played their FIRST game. Represented as 19BC

P.S. If you believe this cache or any of my caches need my attention for whatever reason. Please log a "Need Maintenance" log in addition to either your "Found" or "DNF" log. I will Not be offended. This is because I have over 250+ cache hides & by logging an "NM" log this will be of great help to me in maintaining all of my cache hides, & which caches of mine that need my attention. Thank You in advance for your help in this matter.
