In Kolkuos the river Hjaltadalsa (Hjaltdals river) flows to the
sea. There are two old houses and a small island. Its about 5.8 km
from the main road. Good birdlife and just great place to have a
picnick.
The cache is located in Kolkuos or Kolku-estuary, the river
Hjaltdalsa (Hjaltadals river) flows to the sea here, there is a
small island called Elinarholmi in front of it. Two old houses are
found there, they are in the process of being rebuild. You will
have to turn off the main road by Sleitustadir, see waypoint
SLTURN. Remember to close the gates, there are sheep and horses
around! Driving distance is about 5.8 km from the main road. This
is a gravel road, so drive slowly and carefully. Kolkuos is a
natural harbor and was used as such many years ago, archaeologist
are digging there today. Nobody lives there now. Lots of birds are
seen there. Its a great place to chill out and eat lunch. Its a
good idea to park at the lonely house (just before you go down),
see parking waypoint, because the last few hundreds meters are not
that great for small cars.
