NEVER TRULY LOST
Welcome to the sixth cache from the Burkey Turkeys.
This cache is a regular sized container in Lindfield - another of the North Shore’s leafy suburbs. This location is called Paddy Pallin Reserve.
Frank Austin "Paddy" Pallin was an Australian bushwalking and camping pioneer. He was an original member of the Sydney Bushwalking Club, and in 1939 he co-founded The Bush Club.
In 1975 he established the Paddy Pallin Foundation to assist conservation projects and in the same year was awarded an Order of Australia. Paddy was involved in numerous community organisations including the Youth Hostels Association, the Scout Association and the National Parks Association of NSW.
His notable achievements include:
• Founding member of the Search and Rescue arm of the Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs NSW in 1936. This was a predecessor of the Police Search and Rescue unit, and is known today as the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Squad.
• Started the Paddy Pallin outdoor store which still runs to this day.
• Helped to establish Pennant Hills Scout Camp.
• Started the annual Paddy Pallin Orienteering Competition In 1963.
• Established the Paddy Pallin ski classic in 1964.
• Was pivotal in the foundation of the River Canoe Club.
Paddy's autobiography Never Truly Lost is often looked at as an inspiration to anyone interested in getting out into the wilderness.
We have included a prize of a micro cache tube for the First To Find, and of course the coveted Burkey Turkeys “First to Find” Certificate.
Please replace camo to hide cache well.
We recommend entering park from Provincial Rd.
Enjoy the hunt!
