Carlton - Thunderstruck Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.
Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,
Geocache Description:

A regular sized cache with around 10 items, a logbook, pencil, and a FTF badge for that lucky first :-)

Located just off a track that countinues down to Carlton Pond, this is a great area in the autumn since the track is lined with Horse Chestnut trees, which give a bounty of conkers

In the Spring/Summer, the area is fairly overgrown, but the cache is placed in a location with few brambles/nettles, in the autumn/winter this will be no problem at all

Parking is advised in a layby at approximately this area:

N 53° 41.972' W 001° 01.388'

The walk can be extended to meet the following co-ordinates in order, this gives a nice walk along the track, down by the pond, and then back. If intending to take this route, view it in something such as GoogleEarth/Maps beforehand

N 53° 41.972' W 001° 01.388' (Parking)

N 53° 42.011' W 001° 01.112' (Cache)

N 53° 42.010' W 001° 00.965' (Turn into Pond area)

N 53° 42.118' W 001° 01.329' (Arrive back at main road)

However in the summer, this area is also fairly overgrown

Please take care to replace the cache as you find it, and you may need to rely less on your GPS as you approach GZ as signal isnt great.

I would recommend the cache area for kids in the autumn, its great for collecting conkers
