This is an excerpt out of the June 1909 edition of the Virden Empire Advance
The work on the new Presbyterian Church at Hargrave is progressing very favorably and on Friday June 25, the ceremony of laying the cornerstone will take place at 4:00 pm. The ladies of the church will serve tea from 5:30-7:00pm, after which there will be addresses by prominent speakers interspersed with musical numbers. A feature of the entertainment will be the sale of an autograph quilt. The admission for the tea will be $0.25 cents. Everyone cordially invited to attend."

Congregations affiliated with Hargrave in the 105 year history have been Elkhorn, Two Creeks, Buckingham, Daybreak, Rose Lea, Victor, Ross, Knox(Wallace), Woodville, Woodnorth and Cromer.

In 1919 hymn books were purchased for $1.25 each
1972 the heating system was changed from wood and coal to oil heat for $358.58
1945 electricity was installed within the church
1940 the Ladies' Aid paid $8.15 to have tables made for the church basement.
Sadly enough the numbers dwindled in the 1980's to the point that only determination and faithfulness of those remaining, are keeping the doors open for special services only. Hopefully by God's help our "little church in the wildwood" will live on and on.
