Geocache Description:

Replacement of a replacement of a replacement of a multi-muggled cache.

The TURTLE kids have hidden a micro this time in hopes it doesn't go missing. There is a letterbox nearby. Please rehide exactly as you found it. There is an unactivated, micro TURTLE traveler for the FTF. Welcome to Peckham Park in Middlefield, CT The TURTLE kids favorite playground. Come and find their TK3 cache! Parking: N41' 30.604 W 072' 42.718 (Main ST to Strickland) Trailhead: N 41' 30.470 W 072'42.767 Something for the kids and the adults. For the kids, a nice playground, baseball fields and soccer fields. For the parents, a little history. This trail was a proposed trolley trail. Trolleys ran in Middlefield starting in 1905. You could travel from Middlefield to Middletown. The trolley moved at 10 to 15 mph and the fare was between 5 and 10 cents. The problem was that the trolley line ended at Middlefield Center. In 1909, Mr. Francis Atwater had a vision to extend the line to Durham. The Meriden Middletown and Guilford Electric Railway Company was organized. Unfortunately, by the time the trolley bed was completed in 1912 or 1913, the economy was depressed and the automobile came along. The rails were never put in. All that was completed were the beds, which are now a nice walking trail maintained by the Lions Club. WATCH OUT FOR POISON IVY. Stay on the trail and you will be ok. The cache is only 3 feet off the trail. Don't let the little ones play in all those nice leafy vines. If you want a slightly longer hike, follow the trail all the way to the Coginchaug River. There are plans to build a bridge over the river to Durham. Stay tuned. And all those cages on the left just at the trailhead? A failed ermine/mink farm from the 50s/60s of course. Did I mention that you should WATCH OUT FOR POISON IVY !!! As always, the TURTLE kids say that adults are always welcome.
