Geocache Description:

The cache is a 1litre clip-lock plastic box.

Eric Ravilious (1903-1942) is one of the most popular artists of his period. He was a painter of watercolours and murals, a book illustrator in wood engraving and lithography, and a designer of transfer-ware pottery. From 1940 he was an Official War Artist, painting memorable pictures of ships, aircraft and coastal defences, until his tragic death in a flying accident in 1942.

I am 95% sure that this is the correct location where Eric painted this picture. Please advise me if you know otherwise.

To find the cache you will need to:
- view his painting of 'Chalk Paths';
- go to the likely place where he sat (Eric's Ground Zero) where he faced west to painted it;
- - using the Satellite View of the area around Butt's Brow, Eastbourne, should help;
- - the paths are not as clear as they are in his picture;
- - I believe that a little artistic licence was introduced in the top of the picture;
- ascertain the nearby co-ordinates of where Eric may have met Betty and Ray;
- - subtract 0.092 from that Longitude (i.e. left a bit);
- - subtract 0.179 from that Latitude (i.e. down a lot);
- go to the location of the updated [currently approximate - but look good on the satellite view] co-ordinates; and
- use your cacher's eye to seek the hiding place.

Take your own pictures and upload them, if you like.
Not from Eric's Ground Zero though, please.

I suggest that you approach Eric's GZ, and the final location, by walking from the car park at Butt's Brow; the location of the Question Mark.

Please note that you are required to pay to park during some times of the day. I believe that it is free to park after 6pm.

Many thanks to Vectis for pointing out my mistakes with the, now corrected, adjustments to the interim co-ords.

Oh dear!
Many thanks to The Moor We Hunt for identifying my mistake with the, now [almost] corrected, adjustments to the interim co-ords.
