Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches along part of the walking route of Section 17 of the London Loop.

The London Loop (London Outer Orbital Path), one of the Mayor of London's key routes, almost completely encircles Greater London, covering a total distance of about 150 miles (240km). The idea for the LOOP was first put forward at a meeting of the London Walking Forum in the early 1990's. The first of the 24 sections of the LOOP was opened on 3rd May 1996 with the route becoming fully walkable in 2001.

Go to (visit link) for more on the London Loop.

This cache is along Section 17 of the London Loop, which covers about 8.3 miles (13.3km) between Cockfosters and Enfield Lock. The entrances to this part of the walk are either off Hadley Road at N51 40.053 W000 08.584 or The Ridgeway at N51 40.118 W000 06.770. At the Hadley Road end, parking is available at the lay-bys next to the footpath entrance. There is some parking on residential roads available about 200-300m from The Ridgeway end of the footpath.

This part of the London Loop contains a few kissing gates and stiles along the route.

This cache is in Brooke Wood, named after Councillor Roger Brooke. The view from the field on the South side of the wood is very good. On a clear day, you can see the Tower42 (the Natwest Tower), the Gherkin (the Swiss Re Tower) and Alexandra Palace.

The cache is a 35mm film canister. Contains a badge for the FTF.

Congratulations to Wilmer Wizards on the FTF.
