This used to be the main road into Skidmore.
In the late 1800s, the railroad tracks ran parallel to this road and straight into downtown Skidmore (then, the intersection of 3rd and Sullivan streets). Skidmore thrived into the early 1900s until fire wiped out the entire downtown business section. The city never fully recovered from the losses with many merchants moving their businesses into neighboring Beeville. Congratulations to first-to-finder bixbyok.
