Geocache Description:

[English]

The area of Pakoštane harbor, along with the islands of Saint Justina and Veliki Školj, was the harbor of liburnian settlement, that today can be recognized by walls made of stone without plaster placed on the highest part of Veliki Školj. Considering the height of the sea level was lower for more then two meters in the old times, we have to assume a different configuration of this area. The islands of Sain Justina and Veliki Školj were connected into a single island that protected the harbor form southern winds much better. For the same reason (for better protection of the harbor), perhaps even in the preantique times, a wall made of huge stone blocks was constructed between St. Justina and the land (Jamica location). It was probably at that time that this harbor area was connected with bigger liburnian towns in the hitherland, with Asreij (by today Podgrade near Benkovac) and Nedinium (today Nadin). Under the Roman government navigation along eastern Adriatic coast increased multiply, and the harbor in Pakoštane became especially important. Because of its safety and space it becomes an irreplaceable station for vessels on their way to the northern Adriatic. In harbors like this one, vessels spent the night or waited for better weather conditions to continue their journey. In this area, sailing through Pašman channal requiered a special regime, in accordance with the daily change of wind direction an the strength of currents. The great complex of the antique harbor in Pakoštane and the layers rich in archeological findings, indicate not only a temporary vessel station but an important harbor of the rich and urban roman settlement of Aseria.

The cache is not on the initial coordinates

The first coordiates will lead you to the end of a small pier from which you can easily reach the ancient roman pier by swimming about 50m straight forward from the ladder on the pier.

Task

Determine the bearing/azimuth to the small chapel on the small island of Sv. Justina where the roman pier ends. Use this number (round to whole tens) to specify the final location of the cache

A = azimuth/bearing
C = A / 5 + 4
D = A + A / 2 + 9
E = A / 10 + A / 50
F = A * 3 + A / 2 - 36

Justine i kopna (položaja jamice).
