There is no cache at the posted coordinates; these are coordinates for reaching stage # 1. There are coordinates for the parking area posted, which you MUST USE to begin this multi-cache. Please DO NOT ATTEMPT to access stage 1 from the road!!!
This 3 part multi-cache will take you on a short journey that will introduce you to two separate memorials located in relatively the same area. We encourage you to take a few moments for some reflection, enjoy the views, or even grab some lunch if you work up an appetite. This area is kid friendly, BUT common sense and a wary eye would be advisable.
I’m not providing any hints for this cache, only that to Reach stage # 1 from the parking area there are a few Steps that you will have to take. You will have to figure that out on your own. The cache location, or GZ, is not a difficult spot, no bushwacking is required, just a little peeking will get the job done. The container is a small lock-n-lock type; replace it so it is well hidden.
Please be aware that any muggles in this area will be very inclined to follow up on what it is you are doing, so keep that in mind!
After parking at the designated parking area, make your way to the posted coordinates, which is stage # 1. Here you will find a small bit of information that you will use to reach stage # 2. You will be using the date that you find on the M.C. Memorial Bridge plaque.
The date = ABCD
Stage # 2 North coordinated are; N 40 35.5_2
To solve for stage # 2 missing North coordinate number, add A+C+D.
Stage # 2 West coordinated are; W 077 34._ _ _
To solve for stage # 2 missing West coordinate numbers, add B+ last 3 digits only of the West coordinates posted for reaching stage # 1
Upon reaching stage # 2 you will find a sizeable monument dedicated to 18 people who lost their lives in World War 2. These 18 people were employees of the company that originally developed the area behind the monument; the American Viscose Corporation. For over 50 years, the largest textile company in the county was the American Viscose Corporation, which at one time had over 5,000 employees. In the 1920s, one of their contributions to the area was the development of the company-built community of Juniata Terrace, located on top of the hill south of this monument. American Viscose's role in the area changed dramatically after the Flood of 1972 caused by Hurricane Agnes, which resulted in the closure of the plant as well as many other plant layoffs in the area, including Standard Steel. The spot in which you are now standing, and the surrounding buildings and houses were completely submerged.
The coordinates to reach stage # 3, or GZ where the cache itself is located are:
N 40 35.57_
W 077 34.789
To find the missing coordinate #, simply count the number of rings on the handle of the sword that is on the monument.
ENJOY!!!
Congratulations to 2forfun on the FTF!
