Geocache Description:

A smelly but fairly quick cache on the National Cycle Route 5 in South Abingdon.

The Hanson Way is part of National Cycle Network Route 5. It is the route south from Oxford to Didcot that takes you through traffic-calmed streets before joining the off road path parallel with the railway line. Traffic free paths take you across parkland to the heart of the attractive town of Abingdon. From there the route goes via the little village of Sutton Courtenay before arriving in Didcot by the railway station. From Didcot you can get a train back to Oxford or explore the many beautiful routes around Didcot. For more, check out the Sustrans section on the Hanson Way.   Some more information on the Abingdon to Sutton Courtenay bit can be found here.

This part of the route is the beginning of Peep-O-Day lane from the South Abingdon end.  The path runs alongside Abingdon Sewerage Works, which generally smells quite a bit.  I'm not entirely sure about parking, but I have seen cars on the verge around N51 39.276 W001 17.107 before.  The cache is not wheelchair accessible, and I highly recommend long trousers as the nettles will do nasty things to your legs if you're wearing shorts!

This is part of a series of caches along the Hanson Way that includes caches at the other end of Peep-O-Day lane, and Sutton Courtenay with more to follow.  Another nearby cache is the South Abingdon Multi.
