Geocache Description:

Join your hosts, BlackBrownDog and islander pibteach for a night of campfires and fun at South Bass Island State Park! Please RSVP by September 21st, 2009 so we can plan the pie irons and smores accordingly! Please, post your campsite when available so everyone knows where you are located. Add us to your watchlist for updates!!!

GETTING THERE:
The Miller Ferry leaves from Catawba Island (really a peninsula) which accommodates both passengers and cars. The Miller Ferry takes about 18 minutes to get to the Island and has free parking for your car on the mainland, if you do not want to take your car to the Island. KEEP IN MIND, LAST FRIDAY BOAT FROM HERE *LEAVES* AT 7 PM! Also, on be careful to note that cars should be in line by 4 PM to guarantee passage off the island on Sunday.

The Jet Express, which accommodates passengers and bicycles only, operates between downtown Port Clinton (trips from Sandusky are stopped by this time of year) to downtown Put-in-Bay. There are fees to park your car on the mainland. KEEP IN MIND, LAST FRIDAY and SATURDAY BOATS FROM HERE *LEAVES* AT MIDNIGHT!

Fares are available at the posted links. If you leave your car on the mainland, you may want to bring bikes to travel on the island, rent a golf cart, or pre-arrange transportation to the state park. If you are concerned about making it to the campground, please contact the event hosts by email in advance, to get our cell numbers.

If you plan arrive on the island via your personal watercraft, please see this link for docking information.
If you plan arrive on the island via your personal aircraft, please see this link for airport information.
Alternatively, you could ride over on Lemmy.

CAMPING:
We plan to camp at one of the full hookup sites (there are less than a dozen of them) at South Bass Island State Park on Friday and Saturday nights, and this will serve as the base camp for the โ€œorganizedโ€ activities. The site will have a small white travel trailer with a BlackBrownDog wooden sign and large American flag wind whirly gig with 3 blades outside so you can find us! Online registration is available for the park. Looks like you don't register for a specific site here like you would at the other OSP campgrounds. There is other lodging available on the island and mainland.

EVENT WEEKEND ACTIVITIES:
*Friday: Stop by say hi. Check BBD's base camp for weekend specifics. *Saturday: Island cache finding
1:45 PM - CITO at SBI lighthouse (GC1WNDX)
* Saturday Night: THE MAIN EVENT: 6:30 PM Pie Irons and Smores Campfire Dinner

More activities are in the works, and will not be final until arrival on the island. Contact us with any questions.
