Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the Deer Park Pond area of Allamuchy Mountain State Park. You are looking for a Lock & Lock box.

As you make your way to the cache you may see evidence of beaver activity, including two beaver lodges in the pond. The two lodges are in line when facing NE at GZ. Some short bushwhacking is needed to find the cache. The trail is mostly flat and easy to navigate.

Hunting is permitted here so use caution when caching during hunting season. I noticed two hunting blinds on the trail around the pond.

This cache is the third in a series of caches intended to remind us of nature’s diversity. There are a total of 6 caches in this series (with three more planned). The six are: Black Bear (GC1V9M7), White-Tailed Deer (GC1VE6H), Beaver, Rattlesnake, Mallard, and Coyote. Each cache in the series has cards containing a little information about the subject animal. Don’t forget to take an information card with you.

The cache is stocked with a variety of trade items. This is not a themed cache so feel free to trade any item that you wish. The first to find prize in each cache is a coin bearing the animal’s image on one side; and the cache name on the other.
