listed for the cache) as a starting point for solving.
There are four crossword puzzles to be solved. Each of them
contains one of the four solution cells, which must be placed in
the correct order to determine the a.bcd values to add to the
origin point. Here are the steps:
- Print out and solve the four puzzles. These are all taken from
a children’s puzzle web site, so they should be fairly easy.
You might even let kids, grandkids, etc. take the first crack at
them.
- If you get stumped on any words (no shame in that!), drop me an
email indicating the puzzle(s) and word(s) you’re stuck on,
and I’ll help.
- Now the tedious part: In each puzzle there are several letters
that only occur once in that puzzle solution. BUT, there is only
ONE letter per puzzle (a different letter for each puzzle) that
only occurs once, AND is used in only ONE word in the puzzle
(either in an Across or Down word, but not in both). Find those
four letters. The squares they are in are the solution squares, so
note the letter and row and column numbers for each of them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Since these are 9x9 puzzles, you will notice that
some puzzle grids are numbered from 0-8 and others from 1-9.
- To order the four R,C pairs correctly to fill the a.bcd
formulas, arrange the corresponding letters to form the call
letters of a Huntington, WV talk radio station. TIP: Even if you
have trouble finishing some of the puzzles, it MIGHT help you to go
ahead and try this step anyway.
- Use this information to find the actual cache location, based
on details provided in "Get On The Grid".
- Go find the cache! Once you get past all this puzzle mess, it
should be a QEF (especially if you use the hint).

Congrats to OWL and J&J for making quick
work again for FTF/STF. Guess I'm going to have to make these
harder!
