Geocache Description:

Located half-way between the Aiea Ridge Summit and the Halawa Ridge Summit.

This is another amazing adventure on the Koolau Summit Trail (or the remains of it). This section offers great views of the windward side of the island (which part doesn't??), but beware of the many vertical drop-offs. The cache is placed in a little hidey hole, on the right side of the trail facing Aiea. There is a definite trail and you don’t need to leave the trail to reach the cache. The route taken to place this cache started on the Aiea Ridge Trail and ended on the Halawa Ridge Trail. It took us 4.5 hours just to traverse the 1.4 miles on the KST.

Those who attempt this cache will face sheer cliffs, some times on both sides.

After the Aiea Ridge Summit

Near the Halawa Ridge Summit

Alot of these ups and downs!

Many narrow ridges to cross

Always hike with a partner and let someone know your plan. The weather was not the best when we hiked, sometime horizontal rain would be pelting us on some sections. Wet ground conditions will be very dangerous. Past the cache site on the Halawa side is the “other side of Heaven”. It is the other side of the antenna station. It also has a stair system. One of the stair sections helps you through a near vertical portion of the ridge. Mahalo to the others on this hike: Lost1605, and TQ..
