Geocache Description:

Micro in town in honor of JCDECKER and his 1K achievement. Replaced this traditional listing for the old "Unknown" cache when ALRs were restricted. Come and get...again maybe!

Daniel Wallace, author of Big Fish and Carrboro resident, has recently completed "Getting to Know Carrboro: A Step-by-Step Guide", find it here This cache is one of an irregular series of caches celebrating this list and this town.

It’s the kind of small southern town where the past and the present seem to have been fused into a single moment until it’s no longer one time or the other. Many of the buildings on Main Street and Weaver Street, the two main drags, haven’t changed in half a century—and yet Carrboro is wireless.

This cache celebrates the past of Carrboro and it's somewhat hidden memorial to slaves that helped shape the town.

Small pull off for parking at the site. No need to enter the (locked) fenced area.

PS: Carrboro is pretty famous amongst the Google Earth crowd for such a small town having super hi-res imaging, as ordered up by the town council. Check out that detail here ! :)
