Modjeska Peak is the second highest peak of the Santa Ana Mountains. Elev 5502ft. ¾ of a mile east is Santiago Peak Elev 5686ft. The two peaks as viewed from Santa Ana makes up the shape that resembles a horse’s back. The two mountains together is what we refer to as Saddleback.
The peak is named for a Polish actress Helena Modjeska, who lived in Santiago Canyon. Later the community became known as Modjeska Canyon, where her home remains to this day.
