John’s Flat Tire
This cache is a tribute to good deeds. John, a hunter from out of state had a flat tire. When he pulled over to change the tire he marked his location on his dash mounted GPS. While getting out of the vehicle, a passenger kicked the hand-held GPS out. None of the hunters realized this until it was too late.
When John returned home he contacted me, giving me the coordinates where the GPS had to be. Since I drive by three or four times a month I told him I would look for the GPS. I found it right where he thought it would be.
Now the interesting part: When I called John, he said, “I knew you were about to call. I was shopping for a new GPS for my plane and found one on Craig’s List for $200. It was normally $1800 so I called Garmin with the serial number and found out it was stolen. Because I reported it, the real owner did get his GPS back. So, I knew you were going to call.”
John asked if he could send us a reward, but we declined saying doing right doesn’t need to be rewarded. The day we shipped the GPS back to John, we received a reward in the mail from John.
Sorry if the story is mushy, but that is the reason I am making a pay it forward cache. When you find this cache you will find several pre-made caches. Take one, find a good hiding spot and tell a story.
And don’t forget to sign the log book.
