Although all geocachers are welcome both the puzzle and this cache contents have been designed primarily for families with young children, with a small trophy for the first junior geocacher to find, and a container location for families who enjoy hiking within a typical bush setting, close to suburbia.
Your journey will commence at a family friendly venue, although please leave your pets at home as they are not welcome here, and by keeping to the made pathways will incorporate a return distance to and from GZ of around 3.5 kms
We recommend that you continue on from GZ, to complete the circuit on your return journey, where you will have the opportunity to examine some of the structures used in the transport and storage of water destined for local consumption, in bygone times.
Now that both this, and its neighbour No 7 reservoir, have ceased to operate as a integral part of the domestic water system serving Bendigo and surrounds the council has been upgrading them into recreational venues to include excellent walking tracks winding through natural bush settings, where large numbers of native flora have been replanted, Crusoe restocked with fish for those interested in angling and they are currently adding all the amenities necessary to make this a very pleasant and user friendly area.
As with our sister cache GC1VC59 located nearby at No 7 Park, the journey from the car park to GZ is undulating on formed pathways with a short diversion over to the posted co-ordinates where you will be searching for a 3L metal clip top container.
This vessel holds a 20 piece puzzle, which when assembled, will reveal the numbers for GZ.
As an additional challenge for the more enthusiastic juniors, we have included an alternative method for finding GZ!
At GZ we have located a 15L metal clip top container holding the usual log book, pen and a selection of items suitable for young geocachers to choose from.
In another lifetime both these containers served their country militarily!
PLEASE NOTE THE CONTAINER AT GZ IS PERMANENTLY FIXED WITHIN ITS NICHE.
REMOVE THE LID ONLY TO ACCESS THE CONTENTS.
Please replace the containers camouflage appropriately to ensure the hides integrity for future searchers enjoyment, and as you proceed on your search, be aware of the natural inhabitants, and keep in mind this venue is popular with muggles as well, who may appear at GZ with little warning, so take the appropriate precautions while you share their environment.
