Geocache Description:



Die Landschaft im Ausseerland - Salzkammergut ist ein Werk unzähliger geologischer Prozesse. Diese begannen mit der Ablagerung von Kalken und Dolomiten in einem tropischen Meer vor einigen hundert Jahren.





Der Geo-Trail ist ein gemütlich zu erwandernder Weg zwischen Grundlsee und Toplitzsee ohne nennenswerte Steigungen und ca. 2,5 Stunden Dauer.

Dem Besucher werden anhand von 34 gekennzeichneten Stationen in übersichtlicher und verständlicher Form die Entstehung der Landschaft, die Gebirgsbildung des Toten Gebirges bis hin zu den Eiszeiten sowie zahlreicher außergewöhnlicher Geländeerscheinungen (Gletschermühle, verschwundene Wildbäche, Karstquellen der Stimitz etc.) erklärt. Für diesen Earthcache muss der Weg aber nur ab Station 20 absolviert werden.

Die Schotterterassen von Gössl seien hier nur als einen von vielen Beispielen genauer angeführt.



Es gibt aber viel mehr interessante Information zu finden. Um den Earthcache zu loggen, musst du folgende Aufgaben erledigen:

1: Verlandungszone: Seen, die von Bächen und Flüssen aus den nördlichen Kalkalpen durchströmt werden, sind uns vielfach erhalten geblieben. Was ist der Grund dafür?

2: Ein großer offener "xxx" befindet sich unmittelbar Bachabwärts der Brücke bei der Ranftlmühle.

3: Warum sind Gletschermühlen relatic selten sichtbar??

4: Warum sind die Siebenbrunnen etwas besonderes?

5: Am Weg siehst du oftmals die impossante Gössler Wand. Schätze die Höhe der Wand!!

Anmerkung> Es ist nicht notwendig auf eine Logerlaubis zu warten. Falls die Antworten falsch sind, melde ich mich. Wenn keine Antworten gesendet werden, wird der Log ohne weitere Ankündigung gelöscht.

The landscape is the Ausseerland and Salzkammergut is a result of countless geological processes. It started with depositions of chalk and Dolomites in a tropical ocean hundreds of years ago.





Dhe Geo-Trail is an easy walking-track between Grundlsee and Toplitzsee without any gradients worth mentioning.

The visitors are guided by 34 stations, which inform about the development of the landscape and lots of fascinating facts about the area as well as about a number of remarkable areas (glacial mill, lost mountain torrents, karstic springs etc.) You only need to visit stages 20 and up.

Follow that signs:



The brash terraces of Gössl:


Melt water and rain water carry huge quantities of detrital minerals.
The backwater area behind the relic ice body of the Grundlsee is filled with brash and sand.
During deglaciation creeks again ablate parts of brash and sand. Elevation steps indicate the different stages.

But you can find much more interesting information. In order to log this Earthcache finish the following tasks: :

1: accretion zone: Lakes that have feeder streams from the northern limestone alps did not disappear. Whats the reason?

2: A big open "xxx" can be found downstream near the Ranftlmühle.

3: Glacial mills are rarely visible, Why??

4: What makes Siebenbrunnen so special?

5: On your way you can see the impressive Gössler Wall. Estimate the height!!
