Geocache Description:

***from the photo a cacher has posted, the pipe is broken, but that is just what was used to hold it in place. The log sheet should be inside the cap*** The cache is located at what is believed to be the last operational 19th century well in the area

The wells were provided by the Queensland Government along the Old Warwick Road. They were dug to provide a safe water supply for the teamsters and other travellers in transit between Fassifern and beyond the Southern Downs. The original pump still operates, but the water is no longer safe to drink. Nearby facilities are located at Peak Crossing.
