Lest We Forget:
The aim of this set of caches is to commemorate the men and women from York and the Ainsty who served in the Great War. For more information on any of the Memorials please go to http://yorkandthegreatwar.com/ where the author of the website has done extensive research in to this area.
We must also not forget the brave soldiers and airmen serving in the armed forces at this time of trouble, and we can honour them at www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Askham Bryan War Memorial
The memorial is inscribed as follows:

“To the glory of god who giveth us the victory and in every thankful memory of all in this parish who served their country especially those here recorded who fell in the Great War 1914 – 1919. Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

This is a 35mm canister, please bring a writing implement. there is no need to go into the church grounds, but there is a public footpath through it.
