Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of caches. Each one is an individual cache, and together they lead to a final destination, with a prize for the first to find.

The mineral deposits laid down around the granite core of Dartmoor have long been exploited, mainly for tin, lead and silver. The typical shape of the old mines’ engine houses are easily recognised, and are an icon of the West Country.

For anyone who uses the A386 between Tavistock and Okehampton, the restored engine house of Wheal Betsy, north of Peter Tavy, will be a familiar sight. This mine was principally after lead and silver, and the cache is hidden nearby.

This cache is part of the Heart of Dartmoor Series. On the log book for this cache is information you will need to find the Heart of Dartmoor Bonus
