Bâtisse fortifiée dont il ne reste
que la base imposante et le mur d’enceinte datant à priori du
XVIe. L’histoire dit que le Vicomte de Barras en ordonna la
destruction en 1793, mais Louis Molinard de Cotignac à qui fut
confié le travail s’essouffla avant la fin, laissant ainsi
debout la base et la muraille la plus épaisse. Aujourd’hui,
ce site exceptionnel accueille pendant la belle saison les
différents spectacles et autres festivités, tenant désormais le
rôle officiel de théâtre de verdure pour Fox Amphoux.
Only the imposing basis of the
fortifications and the outer wall dating from the sixteenth century
still exists. The story goes that the Vicomte de Barras ordered the
destruction in 1793, but Louis Molinard de Cotignac to whom the
work was entrusted died before finishing, leaving the basis and the
thicker wall for the future. Today, this exceptional site welcomes
summer shows and various other festivities and has now the role of
official outdoor theater
at Fox Amphoux.
