Geocache Description:

NOTE: Due to darkness constraints, the picnic time has been changed to 3 pm
Please join other cachers, newbie cachers and the Westmoreland Conservancy at a family oriented picnic at Townsend Park on Saturday, October 24th at 3 pm. There will be food provided (you must RSVP to eat), activities for the kids and a prize drawing.

Please join us for a picnic at Townsend Park in Murrysville to eat, talk cache and meet other cachers. New to caching? Perfect! This family oriented picnic will allow you to meet others who may also be new to the sport as well as experienced cachers who will be happy to share their knowledge, expertise, stories and maybe even some of the mistakes they have made.

Please note that while the trails to the temp caches are NOT wheelchair accessible, the picnic pavilion does have a nearby parking lot and a paved trail.

Prior to the picnic, there will be 6 temp caches hidden at each of the Westmoreland Conservancy's six reserves (King, McGinnis, Potter, Tomer, Walter, Caywood).
These may be done in any order and at your own pace. There is no prize for speed so take the time to enjoy the hikes. :-)
Although there will be a cache hidden at each park, you do not need to find them all.

The trails are well marked and well maintained and should be a reasonably easy hike appropriate for both adults and children.

Each participant will sign the log book at each cache and take one (1) collectible info card from each location. These cards may be brought to the picnic for a raffle ticket for the prize drawing. Those managing to gather cards from all locations will receive extra tickets to put in for the drawings! Temp caches will become available at 9 am and cachers may start at any of the reserves. Coordinate sheets for the temp caches will be available at each reserve Saturday morning and posted here the night before.

The Westmoreland Conservancy is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to "acquire and preserve rural and rustic lands for the public good".

Note: Bringing a dish to share is not necessary, but if you would like to, please feel free!

Potter Puzzle: Fill in the tree # based on the Potter Reserve Tree Pamphlet. The pamphlet is available in the box at the bridge across the stream at Potter reserve. If you do not wish to keep it, please return the pamphlet to the box when you are done. Thanks!
