Geocache Description:


Etwa 700 m SSW von Betzenrod liegen die Gluckensteine.
Sie sind sowohl von Betzenrod als auch von Schotten über asphaltierte Wege zu erreichen.


700 m from Betzenrod you can find the so called "Gluckensteine".
You can reach them from Betzenrod as well as from Schotten


Die Wülste wurden durch die flachliegende Absonderung vorgezeichnet und durch die Verwitterung heraus präpariert.
Das Gestein ist fein–mittelkörnig ausgebildet. Das Gefüge ist porphyrisch mit Olivin, Klinopyroxen und wenigen Plagioklasleisten als Einsprenglinge.
In der Matrix ist Plagioklas jedoch reichlich vorhanden. Bemerkenswert ist der hohe Porenanteil in diesem Gestein, hervorgerufen durch eine horizontale, lagenweise Anreicherung von Blasen, die durch die Fließbewegung der Lava verursacht wurde.
Somit ist die flach liegende Absonderung und damit die sonderbare Verwitterungsform letztendlich auf das Fließgefüge zurückzuführen. Die Steine an sich sind aus dem Miozän welches vor 23.03 Mio. Jahren begann und vor eta 5, 332 Mio. Jahren endete.
Es folgte die Serie des Pliozäns und auf diese die des Pleistozäns, auch bekannt als Eiszeit, die von starken Temperaturschwankungen geprägt war.
Die jüngste Epoche ist das Holozän, im englischen auch oft als "Gegenwart" bezeichnet.

Um den Earthcache zu loggen bitte ich euch mir folgende zwei Fragen zu beantworten und ein Foto von euch bei den Gluckensteinen zu schießen.
Die Antworten schickt ihr per Mail an mich und bekommt dann die Logfreigabe.

Die Informationen um die Fragen zu beantworten (hauptsächlich als Hilfe für die zweite Frage) sind aufgrund eines fehlenden Hinweisschildes nicht vor Ort erhältlich, sondern anderweitig zu beschaffen!!

This feature of stones are from the Miocene which started 23 million years ago and ended about 5.332 million years ago.
After the Miocene the Pliocene followed and then came the Pleistocene, the Ice Age, with a huge change between warm and cold times until it ended in the Holocene, the Geological present.
The location itself only consists of one stone and many little stone chippings.
The biggest stone gave its name to the location, you will know which one if you have good eyes and maybe also a little fantasy.

To log the cache please answer the following two questions and take a picture of you at the Gluckensteine.

Since there is no information sign at the location you have to go get the answers for at least one question (the second) in a different way!
