cornerofsky: Having revisited our cache site, and seeing again how eroded and fallen the asphalt is next to the river, we no longer feel it is a safe place for our cache, especially with younger ones. So as life happens, and takes another twist, we will have to archive this cache.

Geocache Description:

Hwy 410 heading toward Mt. Rainier. Gravel pull-off on rt. hand side (S. side). Watch your step coming down any of the very short paths as there can be loose gravel underfoot. Cache is a cammoed pill container

Wow! Update: the bridge is gone. Disappeared! Vanished!
Signs of many road graders indicate the original cache has met its demise. A new one has been placed.The cache is a little distance away where it's safe to be. Still, watch the little ones! They should not go unattended!

History:
We've gone by this bridge hundreds of times. It's a great view of the White River..dizzying.

Stikbow has great added info on this area, so I will include it: "This used to be an old wooden bridge with high side walls and wooden beams out beyond the bridge deck with braces holding up the side walls. The beams stuck out 10 feet or so and I had to walk out on them to pass the telephone cable around them so we could get it into the correct position. Try walking out on a beam with the water rushing below your feet. This was aprox 42 years ago, you can safely say that alot of water has passed under this ol' bridge since then."

The White River will look milky from Rainier's run-off from the sno-pak. Once that is done, it will run clear.
