Geocache Description:

A traditional cache in a traditional setting.

Designated as a National Historic Site in 1989, the village of Neubergthal is regarded as one of the best examples of a single street Mennonite village on the continent. It is especially noted for the number of house-barn combinations which still stand along the village street. The Hamm housebarn, across the street from this cache, was built in 1901 and restored by the Neubergthal Heritage Foundation. The large barn next to it serves double-duty as a private residence and a site for community gatherings in its spacious loft. The creativity of Neubergthal residents can be seen in their colourful gardens as well as in other more traditional forms of art.

Tours of Neubergthal can be arranged by calling 204.324.1567 or 324.1612 or by emailing NHFI@mts.net.
